Lake View was built in 1858 and is the oldest continuously operated hotel on Mackinac Island. 2021 marks our 163rd anniversary. Mackinac Island has approximately 400 year-round residents.

We are conveniently located on Main Street, in the heart of downtown Mackinac Island. We are directly across the street from where Shepler’s and the Mackinac Island Ferry Company (St. Ignace) ferry boats arrive. Mackinac Island Ferry Company (Mackinaw City) ferries arrive a couple blocks down the street.

For the 2023 season, discounted tickets for Shepler’s ferry line are $32.00 per adult and $21.00 per child. Each of the ferry lines offers several daytrip or overnight parking options on their property including ample free parking, as well as secured or covered parking. The Mackinac Island Bike Shop is located on the Hoban Street side of the hotel. You may make advance reservations with your room booking to ensure availability by calling (906) 847-6337 anytime. Lake View Hotel has bike racks surrounding the back and side of the hotel. Please bring your own lock if you want to secure your bicycle.

We have several large rooms that have separate seating areas and a Presidential Suite with a living room, but none of our guest rooms adjoin to other rooms. Our guest rooms do not have balconies, however, many rooms surround our Atrium and provide lovely views from our interior hallways.

Yes. We have a beautiful, four-story Atrium which encloses an indoor heated swimming pool, whirlpool, and dry sauna. We also have an elevator to all four levels.

Seeing-eye dogs are welcome, though pets are not allowed.

Lake View's season runs from early May to late-October, though our reservations office remains open all year. We take reservations year-round. Call toll free (800) 207-7075.

Riding stables are located one block behind the hotel.

Sometimes small beaches form on the north end of the island where you can lay out in the sun and wade into the water.

The Lilac Festival takes place in June each year. Call 1-800-4-LILACS for more information regarding this fun-filled annual 10-day event. The island’s 4th of July fireworks begin at 10:00 pm. The best time to come for fall foliage is typically mid to late September.

Sunset bike rides are available with rentals from Mackinac Island Bike Shop. Our pool is open until 10:00 pm. Many people also like to relax on our rocker-lined, covered front porch. We do not offer babysitting services. 

Guests must be 21 years or older with photo identification to reserve a room. 

We are a "clean air" facility, meaning there is no smoking, vaping, or e-cigs permitted in or on our property. A $250 USD cleaning fee will be charged to any guest who violates the smoking policy. 

Lake View Hotel does not hold rooms without a deposit, which is applied to your final night's stay. Deposit requirements are as follows:

STANDARD DEPOSIT POLICY: At the time of booking, we charge your credit card for the total of your first night's room and taxes. After 3:00 PM local time, 7 days prior to arrival, the remainder of your stay is billed to the credit card on file.

ADVANCE PURCHASE RESERVATIONS: To take advantage of the discounted rates for advance purchase, reservations are required to be paid in full at time of booking.

Standard Cancellation Policy: If it becomes necessary to cancel your reservation, notify us by 3:00 PM, 7 days prior to your arrival date, and you will receive a full refund of your deposit, minus a $30 processing fee. All refunds are based on the original reservation date. If you cancel your reservation after 3:00 PM, 7 days prior to your arrival, your deposit will be forfeited.

Advance Purchase Cancellation Policy: If it becomes necessary to cancel your reservation, you must notify us by 3:00 PM, 14 days prior to your arrival date, and you will receive a full refund of your deposit, minus a $30 processing fee. All refunds are based on the original reservation date. If you cancel your reservation after 3:00 PM, 14 days prior to your arrival, your deposit will be forfeited.

Special Events & Group Cancellation Policies: Certain holidays, groups, yacht race dates and special events require a ONE WEEK cancellation notice. The Mackinac Policy Conference requires a ONE MONTH cancellation notice.

Debit and Credit cards will be authorized at check-in for the amount of your stay. The authorization will hold the funds until check out, at which time the amount actually incurred during the stay will be charged.
